Is Fight Club Toxic Masculinity?ĭespite the fact that Fight Club deals with toxic masculinity, it does not always agree with it: the narrator is an ill man, for whom – without giving too much away – things do not end well, and the army of men following him is nasty, alienated, and cruel.įight Club is a play that pokes fun at toxic masculine stereotypes. While Tyler is said to be listening to the Narrator, there is no indication as to how he is doing so. Tyler appears to be the ideal person for him, as he seeks someone to truly listen to him. In Fight Club, Narrator doesn’t speak directly to Tyler Durden, but rather to his death. Additionally, the narrator is shown to be emotionally and physically attracted to the character of Tyler Durden, which could be interpreted as a sign of homosexual desire.
